About me

Kayleigh Pincott (she/her) is a Brisbane-based award-winning jazz vocalist, composer and educator with two albums of original music to her name. Kayleigh’s debut jazz release, Solace, features original compositions and arrangements and was a finalist in two categories at the 2018 Australian Jazz Bell Awards. In 2019, Kayleigh’s duo project, Downend, released their debut album, Find A Home, exploring ambient songwriting with hints of rock and folk. More recently, Kayleigh's practice has explored the relationship between jazz and singer-songwriter form and style. With a greater focus on the role of ‘space’ in the construction of harmony, melody and lyric, Kayleigh has sought to develop soundscapes which emphasise simplicity and clarity.

Kayleigh's passion for voice education has led her to take up a position as a sessional lecturer in Jazz Voice at the Queensland Conservatorium where she also leads a jazz vocal ensemble and teaches a jazz theory class. Kayleigh is also the Program Director of Talkin' Jazz, a jazz education program for high school students, and works as a voice teacher and choral director at the Anglican Church Grammar School.

“Solace is Kayleigh Pincott's first album release and it is as courageous as it is beautiful. Her compositions and her singing are a breath of fresh air into today's world... the honesty of the writing and the vocal delivery is very moving.”

Kristin Berardi

“Kayleigh Pincott’s new album Solace presents strong compositions and arrangements, with the vocalist confidently leading a unique group of Brisbane improvisers.  We’re equally confident that there’s much more to come from Kayleigh.”
